Who is the Technical Architect?

1. ACADEMIC FORMATION
The University title of Technical Architect is obtained after studying a 3 years career which is taught at the University Schools of Technical Architecture. It is a single-cycle career, with a terminal title, being included within the scope of the Directive 89/48 of the European Community which supports recognition of the titles of higher education within Community countries for postsecondary Studies having an academic lenght of three or more years of courses.

2. PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS
The Technical Architect, or now the Building Engineer, is a professional who, according to his academic formation, develop with full responsabily a wide range of activities within the field of construction. Amongst them can be mentioned the intervention in the Project and Management of the Works; control of the quality of the materials, elements and units; construction economics including preliminary estimates, bill of quantities, budgets, análisis and cost control, tendering and contracts; technical advine in research and manufactured of construction materials, teaching and other functions related to these activities.
